We want to tell you what we are doing!

The recent questionnaire results were very critical of the parish council for not publishing enough information about it's meetings, decisions and finances

To help correct this the parish council now has this web page and it will be putting regular reports in the Bridgerule Buzz.

Click on the links below to see minutes of recent council meetings. Full details of monthly payments, receipts, bank balances etc are in the minutes

Scroll down this page to see details of parish councillors and some recent council achievements.

If you want to find out first hand what is going on you are very welcome to attend a council meeting. Just turn up at the meetings or contact Maureen, the parish clerk.

Recent achievements by the Parish Council

Do you remember the dangerous state of the pavement by the phone box and the loose block of granite on the bridge ?

After complaints by local residents the parish council reported it and sent photos to Torridge District Council.

The pavement was so dangerous it was fixed within a few days and the bridge has now also been repaired.

We told Torridge DC about the bad potholes that appeared on the B3254 after the cold weather and they were repaired within a few days and the ones on the Bridgerule to Newacott road which we also reported were repaired shortly afterwards.

We want to do more !  Please let the parish council know if there is anything you want to be brought up, preferably by emailing or by writing to the parish clerk (details above) so we have it in writing.

The new childrens playground by the hall

Thanks to some very generous donations and a lot of hard work the new childrens playground has been completed.

A new seat was recently added so that parents could watch their children enjoying themselves in comfort.

A recent inspection found that the swings were in need of maintenance and they are being repaired.

One of the main expenses the parish council has is grass cutting

The playing field is used by children, the school, and the football teams. The grass by the river, the play park and other grass around the hall and an area of open grass at Southfields all have to be kept cut to a standard where they can be safely used for walking and playing.

To enable the football teams to play football regularly the football pitch often needs cutting more regularly than the other areas and this puts quite a strain on the small local budget . (See the August 2009 minutes)

Football is a key provider of entertainment in the village with 2 good teams and a good local following so the parish council has always felt it has a duty to make sure the pitch is kept cut to the required standard.
